Experience

Over the past 40 years I have also taught guitar, flute, recorder & tin whistle at St. John’s College, Woodlawn, Lismore Trinity College, St. Carthage’s College, Nimbin Public School and the Lismore Music Centre as well as private students at home. During this time I enrolled countless students for A.M.E.B. exams.

I received tuition for several years in classical guitar at the Sydney Spanish Guitar Centre including master classes with the South American guitarist Turibio Santos and the English classical guitarist Carlos Bonell.
While enrolled in the NRCAE (U.N.E., Lismore/SCU) from 1984, a collegue and I formed ‘The Gente Humours Consort, Singers and Players’. The consort of musicians was the core of this group which performed regularly in its own right.

I have taken part in community productions such as performances of Benjamin Brittan’s “Noah’s Fludde”, Hnadel’s “Messiah” and Vivaldi’s “Gloria” both as a musician and a singer in the chorale.
I have been performing and teaching on a regular basis over many years including performances for The Friends of the Conservatorium Centre, at the Lismore Folk Festival and at the Lismore Regional Art Gallery.
I entrepreneured several tours by Brisbane musicians on the north coast, most notably flautist Gerard Dutton of the Queensland Conservatorium and the Well Tempered Consort.

I was also one of the four people who created the Lismore Symphony Orchestra late in 2004 in which I played flute for 3 years.
Over the past 10 years I have been called upon to play two or three times a year at the Kuan Yin Meditation Centre in which I play solo guitar for a 40 minute set.
Currently I play first flute with the Ballina Shire Concert Band and the Lismore Concert Band. I also play flute, guitar and recorder in the quartet “L’oiseaux qui chante”.
